I was impressed by the high standard of courtesy and concern of the members of the NIS staff at Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara. It was a reflection of the main NIS Office at Brickdam.

I speak for myself.

I was concerned that my pension was not calculated with reference to my full contributions, missing years being from 2000-2008. I was afforded the minimum scale as a result.

An NIS Personnel left her desk to attend to my concern on December 29. I was surprised at the kind and patient approach. She did her research and informed me accordingly, giving me a base to submit my appeal properly.

Her attitude reminded me of the commendable attitude of the staff of the Ministry of Education, 21 Brickdam.

I take this opportunity to wish all these human service oriented persons the best for 2009.
