ANNANDALE Secondary defeated Cummings Lodge Secondary to win the East Coast Demerara Zone, while Lower Corentyne Secondary and Parika Secondary also recorded victories in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary Schools Cricket League (NSSCL), sponsored by Banks DIH Ltd’s Coco Cola and Rainforest Water along with Digicel.
At Enterprise ground, Annandale Secondary who were inserted to bat reached 151-9 in 30 overs.
Damuka Ngquindo top-scored with 30. Bowling for Cummings Lodge Secondary, Hemraj Mohabir took 3-21 while there were two wickets each for Andrew McCurdy, Naranjan Ori and Prakash Debidyal.
In reply, Cummings Lodge Secondary lost wickets at regular intervals and eventually folded for 115 in 19.2 overs. Reaz Mohamed top-scored with 27 while Prakash Debidyal and Hemraj Mohabir both made 21. Tameshwar Motiram had terrific figures of 5-26 and Tyrese Assanah claimed 4-24.
At Port Mourant ground, Lower Corentyne Secondary got the better of Manchester Secondary by seven wickets. Batting first, Manchester Secondary were bowled out for a meagre 88 in 19.1 overs. Junior Sinclair returned with excellent figures of 5-27 while Keith Simpson supported well with 3-17, bowling for Lower Corentyne Secondary.
In reply, Lower Corentyne Secondary made light work of the small target, reaching 89-3 in 17 overs. Junior Sinclair showed his all-round ability by returning with the bat to make 36. Ramesh Kasinauth contributed 19 not out. Bowling for Manchester Secondary, Godwyn McDonald had tidy figures of 3-5.
At Parika, the home team crushed Vergenoegen High by 108. Batting first, Parika Secondary amassed 188-6 in 25 overs. Azim Mohomed struck 44 while Wazim Mohamed and Devendra Drahaled contributed 28 and 21 respectively. Bowling for Vergenoegen High, Kennard Paul took 2-26.
In reply Vergenoegen High were dismissed for 80 in the 14th over. Bowling for Parika Secondary, Wazim Mohamed bagged 3-9, Junior Albert 3-10 and Azim Mohamed snared 2-22.
