Robbery accused remanded

MAGISTRATE Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, on Monday, February 17, 2020, remanded a 26-year-old Vendor to prison, on a robbery charge.

Rawledon Marshal of Kitty appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied the charge, when it was read to him.

Particulars of the charge stated that, on February 10, 2020, at Kitty, he robbed Masecimo Hartman of a phone valued at $170,000; a hat valued at $5,000; a charger valued at $5,000, and $40 cash, immediately before or after he used personal violence against the said Masecimo Hartman.

Police prosecutor objected to bail being granted to Marshal and told the court that, around 01:00 hours, Hartman was walking along the seawall when he was confronted by Marshal who took away the items mentioned in the charge.

Marshal then told Hartman to lie on the ground and he started to kick him to his head and then made good his escape.

The matter was reported, an investigation was launched, and Marshal was contacted. The court also heard that Marshal was positively pointed out by Hartman, as the person who robbed him.

Marshal was arrested and later charged.

Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus remanded Marshal to prison and adjourned the matter until March 4, 2020.
