Trio to face trial for alleged murder of taxi driver

SIX years after the murder of taxi driver Raphael Campbell, the trial into this death is expected to commence soon at the Demerara High Court.

Shawn Edinboro, Michael Bishop and Shawn Collins are jointly charged for the alleged murder of Campbell between January 2 and January 3, 2014 at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara.

The men will soon face a Judge and jury at the High Court. According to reports, on January 2, 2014, Campbell picked up Edinboro, Bishop and Collins in Camp Street. He allegedly took the passengers to East Coast of Demerara, where he was slain and his vehicle was stolen by the three men. His body was found on January 3, 2014.

Police subsequently launched an investigation and the trio were stopped at a roadblock on the Soesdyke/Linden highway, while in the stolen vehicle.
