Vivaanta Ayurvedic Spa & Hair Salon, which focuses on herbal therapies to retain and regain youthful beauty and health, formally opened its doors in Guyana on Saturday.
Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) President and Vice Chairman of the Private Sector Commission (PSC), Deodat Indar praised the investment at Lot 3 Church and Waterloo Streets, Georgetown as worthwhile.
Some 15 Guyanese are employed at the spa and salon, and according to Indar, the locals

will benefit from transfer of technical skills and services.
He noted that Guyana is on the cusp of massive transformation and the Vivaanta Ayurvedic Spa & Hair Salon will facilitate growth in the hospitality sector.

Owners of the business, Nitin and Karan Mehra are pioneers and leaders of herbal care. They have successfully mixed ancient heritage with the latest techniques and unique innovations, breaking barriers in the spa industry.

“My father, Mr. Nitin Mehra, was always in the export and import industry, doing business in many parts of the world. At the same time, I belong to a background of mechatronics engineering (a combination of mechanical, electrical and computer sciences). However my mother, Ms. Sunaina Mehra focused her studies in beauty and Ayurvedic treatments since she always had a burning desire to recapture the ancient heritage,” said Karan, who is also one of the directors of the company. The other director is Nitin Mehra.

Before coming to Guyana, the investors, who are originally from India, had established business in Trinidad and Tobago in 2011, which Karan said, is a flourishing enterprise.
“We are known for our herbal therapies. Many of our therapies are aimed at retaining youthful beauty and health. And so we have now commenced offering our services in the Guyanese market, where we plan to give of our best,” he said.

Karan said even though there are other hair salons in Guyana, he believes that the services offered by Vivaanta Ayurvedic Spa & Hair Salon will be quite different as it will be provided in modern facilities, utilising Ayurveda techniques.

He defined Ayurveda as one of the world’s oldest holistic ‘whole-body’ healing systems. It was developed in India more than 3,000 years ago.

Ayurveda is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Its main goal is to promote good health, not fight disease. However, treatments may be geared toward specific health problems.

Indian High Commissioner to Guyana, Venkatachalam Mahalingham was among the guests at the opening of the spa and hair salon on Saturday.
