GUYANA Goldfields/AGM Inc., on Wednesday hosted its annual Children’s Need & Development Initiative (CNDI) and CSR Support Programme presentation and contributed approximately $20M to several organisations and communities.The company continued its Corporate Social Responsibility programme (CSR) with the aim of contributing to the sustainable development of Guyana. In a statement to the media, Guyana Gold Fields/ AGM said that its CNDI and CSR Support Programme were initiatives created to provide monetary assistance to various Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Community Based Organisations (CBOs) and communities that engage in projects that promote sustainable development.
“In order to apply for funding from the company for these initiatives, the various entities are encouraged to fill out the “Inquiry Form”, from which the CSR team investigates the organisations and communities of interest throughout the year,” the statement said.
Among those institutions and communities that have benefited from the programme are the Step by Step Foundation Autistic School, Joshua House, Help & Shelter, the Red Cross Convalescent Home, the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha Bal Nivas Orphanage, Epilepsy Foundation of Guyana, Ruimveldt Children’s Aid Centre, FACT, Artistes in Direct Support, Sidya Vidya Niketan School, Ogle Old & Needy Folk, St Cuthbert’s Village Council, Great Troolie CDC, Volunteer Youth Corps, Ptolemy Reid Centre, and Guyana Society for the Blind.
Meanwhile, chairperson of the programme, CSR Manager Ayaana Jean-Baptiste encouraged the various representatives of the aforementioned organisations and communities to disclose some of the challenges facing them as a means of promoting collaboration.
General Operations Manager, Vic Rozon, commended the organisations and communities on their work thus far through the programmes and their continued dedication to enhancing sustainable development.
