A CITY Constable identified as Satesh Boodho was chopped in his head, allegedly by three young men on Water Street, Georgetown,in front of the old Guyana Stores storage bond at around 15:30hrs.
While details remain sketchy, eyewitnesses told the Guyana Chronicle that the Constable was being chased by three young men, when one of them, wearing a “white polo shirt and black pants” dealt Boodho two chops to his head.
Eyewitnesses also recounted that both Boodho and his attacker fell on the pavement while a struggle seemingly ensued for the firearm being carried by Boodho. The three men reportedly made their escape shortly after and the firearm was recovered.
One vendor, who prefers to remain anonymous said, “All I see is them man come running down and all of we had to run helter-skelter.” However, more details could not be given since all vendors and passers-by who were at the scene scampered away to avoid being injured also.
The Guyana Chronicle was at the scene of the crime but could not ascertain from the police as to what weapon was used to inflict the wound.Investigations are still ongoing.
While at the Georgetown Public Hospital, the Guyana Chronicle was informed that Boodho was chopped to the middle, top of his head and at the right side of his head, just above his ear.
Also at the hospital was Superintendent of the City Constabulary, Gordon Langevine, who said, “Al I know, is that a member of the City Constabulary was injured while executing his duties and we are investigating the matter.”
