THIRTEEN singers have been selected to contest E-Networks Emerging Voices Season 2 following intense rounds of audition.Almost 100 persons from across the country auditioned before judges Purnash Durgaprasad and Dr. Vindhya Persaud in a bid to be part of this year’s competition.

E-networks has announced that it is pleased with the level of interest shown by young Guyanese in the singing competition, which created waves among Guyanese and You Tube fans when it was first held in 2014.

Those chosen for this year’s competition are Parmeshwarie Seodat of Tuschen – West Coast Demerara (WCD), Andy Rattan -Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara (ECD), Karamchand Sugrim – East Canje, Berbice, Altaf Hamid – Annandale, ECD, Trisha Persaud – Parika, EBE, Ritesh Tularam – Non Pariel, ECD, Vidya Ram – Best Village, WBD, Shivanand Singh – Handsome Tree, Mahaica River, Hemraj Rasulan – No. 2 Village, West Berbice, Sashwatie Harrichan – Unity Village, Elizabeth Wong – Anna Catherina, WCD, Keshav Rampersaud Vryheid’s Lust, ECD and Dharamraj Mohabir – Hampshire, Corentyne.

In addition to the grand prizes on offer, including a one million dollar first prize, the competition provides the valuable opportunity for the contestants to be trained by judges Purnash Durgaprasad and Jeffrey Iqbal, both of whom are accomplished singers and musicians with a wide range of experience on the international scene.

Purnash started working with the contestants very soon after the audition results and, in addition to working on their songs for the competition, they have been given a daily regimen of vocal exercises to increase their capabilities.

Training will continue for the next 2 months. The show will be aired in September and promises excellent entertainment, great production value and some surprises, including possible wildcard entries.
