STARR Computers Inc., on Thursday last, introduced to their line of items the new ‘Intel Compute Stick’ ultra-slim computer, which is currently classed as the world’s smallest computer, and intends to sell it at an affordable price to cater for low-income earners. At the launching ceremony, President of the Board of Directors of Starr Computers, Michael Mohan, said that as a longstanding partner with Intel, they have the opportunity to “jump the

bandwagon” and introduce the product just one day after its international launching.
“Persons would now be able to save in on electricity, and also be able to carry it anywhere with them, as it is plugged into any monitor which has the HDMI port,” he said.
SMART TV
The television system can now be used as a computer system, which would prove to be beneficial to persons, in the sense that instead of having to buy a monitor, they could just use their TV as the source of display; in other words, the regular TV would be transformed into a Smart TV, thereby allowing persons to access the Internet and carry out all the functions of a basic computer system.
Mohan said also that the computer comes with Windows 8, and has a free upgrade, which allows the user to boost the system to Windows 10.
Apart from that, he noted that it has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as it also has a 2-gigabyte Random Access Memory (RAM), 32 Gigabytes of space and also has a Micro SD slot which allows for the expansion of the computer’s memory.
It also consists of a quad core which is four times that of some netbooks, and uses two and a half waltz of energy, which is less than a light bulb. Additionally, he stressed that the “benefits of this device are endless.”
It would prove beneficial for the business community, the education sector and many other individuals who need to keep up-to-date technological.
This, he added, will be beneficial to persons in high class society as well as low income earners. Therefore, he announced that the first 1,000 persons who purchase the product will get it for $39,900.
2015-2016 PLANS
Meanwhile, moving away from the world’s smallest computer, Mohan showed members of the media the company’s plan, which they intend to implement during the period 2015-2016.
He stated that during this period they intend to promote smart computer labs in schools, promote clean energy and smart integration in homes across Guyana.
Plugging the implementation of the smart computers in schools, they have approached the Ministry of Education and hope to get approval as soon as possible.
