Texila American University to Host 2nd Annual Cultural Night and Pageant

Texila American University (TAU) will host its 2nd annual cultural night and pageant on November 29th, 2014, at the National Cultural Centre under the theme “A Royal Affair.” The event commences at 20:00hrs and will showcase the rich cultural diversity of TAU students who have come from three different parts of the world: Asia, Africa and the Caribbean! The event will also include a night of pageantry with contestants from across the globe vying for the crown of Mr. and Miss Texila 2015.

The cultural segment will be packed with exotic dances, exquisite cultural fashion display, drama and talents from around the world. The TAU cultural event is one of a kind with rich originality and ethnic diversity. This year, the pageant will have 10 contestants (5 males, 5 females) competing for the honour of being called Miss and Mr. Texila American University ‘2015’. Last year saw the crowning of the first King and Queen; Bonaventure Atulomah from Nigeria and Umadevi Bux of Guyana.
An added feature of this year’s event is the launching of TAU’s First Annual Magazine ARUBAH, which will focus on the lifestyle of medical students. The magazine will also offer readers a rich variety of medical articles from TAU faculty and students. It will be the first of its kind in Guyana to be launch at such an eventful night filled with entertainment from home based Medical students as well as international students from across the globe studying here in Guyana.
Tickets for this event is $1500 and can be uplifted from the National Cultural centre and TAU Medical School Building, Spareendam, East Coast Demerara, TAU Campus 2, Critchlow Labour College.
The University will also host its Sports Finals Competition & Fund raising event on November 22nd at the Guyana Defense Force Ground. The event will feature the Football and Cricket Finals, 100 & 400 meters and relay races. Also on the card is the Fields: shot put and discus. Entrance is free.
The contestants of this year’s pageant are from Nigeria, Venezuela, Guyana, Congo and India. Funds garnered from these events are used for community outreach programmes by the student body.
Texila American University (TAU) is an international university providing quality education and teaching of health sciences education to students around the world. TAU awards degrees in Medicine, Nursing and Dentistry. The University has been operating in Guyana since 2010 and attracts a wide cross section of students from countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe.
