Nine persons arrested in police raids

POLICE reported yesterday that during raids in several city wards and at Diamond and Providence, East Bank Demerara nine persons were arrested for varying offences.

During yesterday morning a party of lawmen conducted an operation within the areas of Diamond and Providence, EBD, and Ruimveldt and Tucville, Georgetown.
In this operation a total of nine persons were arrested. Four men were arrested pending investigations into armed robberies; two men and two women were arrested for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking; and a man was arrested after an unlicensed .32 Taurus pistol along with two magazines and 25 matching rounds were
found in his home. He was also wanted for questioning pending investigations into another matter where a firearm was recovered at Ogle, East Coast Demerara.
The persons held are in custody assisting with investigations.
