SCOTIABANK has completed the rollout of its new enhanced Automated Teller Machines, known as Intelligent Deposit Machines (IDMs), across all branch locations.
According to a press release from the bank, these state-of-the-art self-service terminals are designed to make everyday banking faster, safer, and more convenient for clients. The introduction of IDMs marks a significant milestone in the Bank’s ongoing commitment to modernising its service channels and expanding 24/7 access to essential banking solutions.
According to Country Manager of Scotiabank Guyana Inc., Nafeeza Gaffoor, the enhanced ATMs allow the Bank to deliver a smoother and more efficient client experience.
She related that by investing in intelligent deposit technology, Scotiabank is empowering clients to conduct transactions quickly, securely, and at their convenience.
The new Intelligent Deposit Machines bring a range of upgraded features to customers. Deposits no longer require envelopes—clients can now insert cash and cheques directly into the machine. The IDMs automatically count cash, scan cheques, verify deposit amounts, and print images on receipts.
Deposits are processed in real time, with cash becoming available either instantly or within minutes, and cheque images transmitted digitally for faster clearing.
Beyond deposits, the IDMs offer expanded self-service functionality, allowing customers to complete transfers, loan and credit card payments, bill payments, and balance inquiries at any time of day.
With large touchscreens, tactile keypads, audio navigation, multilingual prompts, and accessible height design, the machines cater to the needs of all users, ensuring inclusivity and ease of use.
The deployment of these enhanced ATMs reinforces Scotiabank’s broader digital transformation strategy, aimed at giving clients flexible, technology-driven options beyond traditional branch banking. The move particularly benefits businesses, which can now make secure, after-hours deposits through the IDMs—further advancing digital banking convenience across Guyana.
“As client needs evolve, we are committed to meeting them with solutions that blend innovation, convenience, and security. These machines help reduce branch wait times, improve deposit accuracy, and give our clients more control over how and when they bank,” Gaffoor said.
The first phase of Intelligent Deposit Machines has been deployed strategically at branches and with additional installations planned for the near future.
