APNU clearly not interested in making it easier for the people

A Partnership for National Unity has clearly defined that the party’s target is political supremacy when it voted against the Hydro-Electric Power (Amendment) Bill 2013 and the motion on the debt ceiling for companies in Guyana.
Despite the fact that all of Guyana, including the public and private sectors, were in full support of Guyana preparing to welcome hydroelectricity, via the Amaila Falls project, moving towards more sustainable development practices, APNU voted against the legislation for

the project.
I am at a loss to determine why. When Guyana is pushing for a green economy through the LCDS and other projects which are taking the country ahead by leaps and bounds, it remains mystifying why this party has acted in this manner.

It is a fact that they used the legislation shamelessly to try to force government to do what has already been done. As a political bargaining tool, they tried to force government to reduce VAT,despite the fact that it was proven that this would only benefit the rich.
They claimed that public servants should get more pay, when in fact salaries from 1992 to date have been raised by a minimum of 5% each year, in some cases more, where some sectors received 8% and some 10%.
From what I have read in the public domain, their outright denial that they did not get the information they had asked from the government is clearly not true. It is clear that government worked tirelessly for 18 months to fulfill this mandate. Sithe Global and government have actively engaged the Opposition for over 18 months, providing technical presentations (power points) and various studies, transaction of major agreements (PPA, RA, IA), holding public workshops (one with Sithe), an arranged visit to the Amaila Falls access roads; arranging for APNU and AFC to meet the IDB on subject matter, and supporting and facilitating direct engagement with Sithe Global/Blackstone.
In the end, the APNU created the false impression of a breach of transparency and accountability. Clearly the project was transparent as the fact validates this. Their non-support clearly demonstrates their petty reasons for objecting. The real fact of the matter is that they simply do not want the PPP/C administration to receive kudos for a project that the PNC never managed to get off the ground. Instead they want to hold the administration to ransom for their own petty purposes.
This demonstrates a brilliant signal to Guyanese that the political party APNU is not interested in making it easier for the people who voted for them.
