CHAIRMAN of Region 2 (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Parmanand Persaud handed over several laptop computers to residents of Essequibo Coast, on Wednesday, at the One Laptop Per Family (OLPF) Essequibo Technical Institute (ETI). Before performing the function, he urged the large crowd waiting to collect their free gifts to make full use of the devices.
Persaud said government aims to make all Guyanese owners of laptops and computer literate.
Two hundred and ninety-two of the machines were distributed at the ETI hub and the Essequibians were very thankful to the government for the receipt.
Many said they are proud to own a computer and were loud in praise for the ruling People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) that has made it possible for ordinary, grassroot Guyanese to become knowledgeable of computers and owners of them.
