THE cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) recently organised a massive medical outreach programme at the St Francis Community Developers Training Centre in Rose Hall Town.

The programme was organised in conjunction with the USA-based Guyana Medical Mission, headed by Dr James Cort, and the Friends/Roots of Rose Hall Town NGO.
A team of over 25 doctors, registered nurses and pharmacists worked from 07:00hrs to 19:00hrs to look after the hundreds of residents who turned up at the invitation of the cricket teams.

The major problems that were treated by the medical team were diabetes, high blood pressure, eye care, foot care, stroke and the common cold. Dozens of residents received spectacles or reading glasses after having their eyes tested by a team of specialists while every person at the clinic was provided with the necessary supply of medicines for their sickness.

The medicines were obtained from the USA with the support of the Friends and Roots of Rose Hall Town, headed by Mr Clement Manns.

RHTYSC secretary Hilbert Foster hailed the medical clinic as a resounding success and expressed gratitude to the two co-organisers for their support.

The RHTYSC, he stated, is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of the less fortunate, elderly and youths.

He stated that the club first hosted the American medical workers in 2019 but the COVID-19 pandemic caused the clinic to be pushed back in 2020 and 2021.

The medical clinic was organised by the Poonai Pharmacy Under-13, Farfan and Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 , Metro Female and Namilco Thunderbolt Under-21 and first division.

The teams expressed thanks to Poonai Pharmacy, Balram Shane General Store, Ishwar Singh, Banks Dih Ltd, Guyana Beverage Company, Shemaine Campbelle and Shabika Gajnabi for their support to make the medical clinic a success.

Meanwhile, the teams have also started to make preparations to host the 32nd edition of the RHTYSC Annual Christmas Charity programme and the eighth edition of the popular Christmas Village. The village would be held in the compound of the Rose Hall Town Primary School from December 22 to 24. depict

The village would comprise a transformation of the school compound into a dreamland for children with thousands of fairy lights, inflatable Christmas characters, 20-foot Christmas tree, children’s games, the nativity scene, bouncy castles and trampolines, among other attractions.
