U.S. promises assistance in security, cooperation and information sharing

United States (U.S.) Ambassador to Guyana Mr.Brent Hardt met Home Affairs Minister Mr. Clement Rohee yesterday at his Brickdam office in Georgetown, to discuss fostering a better working relationship between the U.S. and Guyana in terms of security, cooperation, and information sharing.

Minister Rohee deemed the meeting fitting although similar meetings had been held, including the recently-concluded Caribbean Security Basin Initiative (CBSI), among others.

Ambassador Hardt also presented Minister Rohee with a book as a token of appreciation; and during brief remarks, said that as regards U.S. assisting Guyana in security, this would come through the CBSI Commission, which will determine Guyana’s specific needs in the area of security.

The ambassador disclosed that the CBSI Commission would work with Guyana where necessary to combat crimes, and that the two countries would share information and training to counter international crimes.
