What is wrong about an appreciation day for the President?

WHAT is so wrong about an appreciation day for President Jagdeo who has made a great difference in this country compared to the previous PNC Presidents? Even if some may not have favoured such an event, it is unfortunate that persons such as Gerhard Ramsaroop, Aubrey Gill, Mark Archer and Freddie Kissoon, write shamelessly just to dishearten Jagdeo and his administration. These persons are wasting their time injecting malicious opinions into people’s minds because they think Guyanese would support their devious acts to derail the image of the President and Government of Guyana. They seem to have run out of ideas to cause mischief and their best line is to attack the President’s personality, whom they do not know personally, rather than his efforts and outcomes. Worst yet, there is one opponent, a spectre of monstrosity and ugliness beyond the human proportions, who writes scandalously everyday about the President and his work.
These opponents write based on their insularity, partiality and idiocy expressing their subjective rather than objective ideas. Are they telling us that Guyanese including myself are incapable of being critical of matters regarding our country? And that our President and current government are so evil that an appreciation day for the contributions made is gratuitous? So often, they express their opinions which has limited or no evidential support. As Guyanese, we want to hear the truth, not opinions without corroboration, especially if they are running for president. And, if they are not, they should stop doing this country and its people an injustice.
It is in the public domain, this event was not funded by the government. It wass catered for by the private people and entities who wanted to say thanks to the President of this country. So, what is their beef? They appear to be ignorant of the fact that education particularly enrolment rates for secondary education level were demeaning under the PNC rule during the 1980s. The current government has been investing heavily in education every year especially in the Amerindian communities, which were neglected during the PNC era. The other opposition parties, namely, the AFC and APNU, have no track record to show Guyanese their capabilities and potential, so what really are their bases for running the presidency and government; their thing is just promises?
Most of the problems of today in Guyana are  a result of ineffective policies pursued by the PNC during the 1970s and 1980s. Now, blinded by ignorance, these opponents are merely blaming the current government for every failure. From the inception of the PPP in 1992, the party and its government have been trying to make Guyana financially and economically viable. In 2008, Guyana was the only country to introduce a relief package which provides a range of measures to cushion the effects of rising global fuel and food prices, compared to the rest of the Caricom states. Also, Jagdeo has placed much emphasis on agricultural development locally and regionally to enhance food security in Guyana and the CARICOM region. There is a lot more I can say, but let me leave this for another time.
