A 60-year-old security guard attached to the West Demerara Regional Hospital died on Sunday morning after he was struck down by a car.

Dead is Keith Redmond  of Bagotville , West Bank Demerara (WBD). The man was making his way home around 0500hrs on Sunday when he was stuck down by a speeding motorcar.

Reports are that the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle and struck down the man as the car levelled several fences close to the National Insurance Scheme office at Poudroyen ,WBD.

A relative told the Guyana Chronicle that Redmond , who was her uncle , worked the night shift at the hospital and was heading home when he was struck down . She said that when she arrived at the hospital she saw her uncle lying on a bed in a motionless , bloodied state while the driver of the car lay on another bed next to him. She said the driver of the car was trying to escape from the hospital.

The deceased was later taken to the hospital mortuary as his relatives mourn his death.Police are investigating the accident.
