Comrades, please don’t air dirty laundry in public

THIS is an open message to all of the PPP presidential hopefuls for 2011: Comrades, please do not air your dirty laundry in public
Whatever your differences are with the selection process, they must be ironed out behind closed doors. To do otherwise is to damage the Party and the legacy of the party’s founding father Dr. Cheddi Jagan.
It is with increasing alarm that I note that Comrades Navin Chandrapal, Moses Nagamoottoo and Ralph Ramkarran are publicly voicing their opposition to the Party’s time honoured process to choose the PPP presidential candidate for the 2011 general elections. It is imperative that each of you cease and desist from such divisive actions at once.

I have seen each of you in action since the 1970s. I have the utmost respect for you as loyal servants to the PPP, Dr. Jagan and the nation.

However, by now publicly voicing your disagreements with the selection process you are harming the Party.
Comrades, the Party is paramount. It is there to serve the nation. It is commendable that you are aiming high and aspiring for the top job.

However, please do not do so at the expense of the Party’s unity. Please remember, the Party is paramount. That is the way Dr. Jagan formed it and left it for us. It is the legacy of the great man.

Differences of opinion are the essence of any organization. The key to success lies in professionally stating your position and tactfully securing support.
To publicly air your disagreements is to advertise that the Party is divided. Do not hurt the legacy of Dr. Jagan that each of you have worked so hard to establish. Resolve your differences within the hallowed walls of Freedom House.

Furthermore, you are not helping yourselves by opposing Comrade Jagdeo in public. He is well loved all across our Dear land and his stature as an international statesman is beyond reproach. Furthermore, he has admirably sustained and developed the legacy of Dr. Jagan. Comrades, you are shooting yourselves in the foot. Please stop such unprofessional conduct at once.

It is commendable that each of you is aspiring for the top office.
Whoever eventually gets the nod, rest assured, the entire party will support you. However, if you continue to air your differences publicly, you will be perceived as losers and the Party will be damaged. Please use your political experience and tact to pursue your goals within the hallowed walls of Freedom House. Long live the PPP!
