SEAN Persaud (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, on a robbery charge.
It is alleged that, last December 30, he robbed Kevin La Fleur of a $350 wallet which contained $63,000 in cash but he pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was walking along King Street, Georgetown, when the defendant, in company of another person, approached him and enquired if he was doing business.
The prosecutor said La Fleur replied in the negative and the defendant held his neck while the accomplice took away the wallet with the cash.
Persaud told the Court he is a commercial sex worker and was requested, by the virtual complainant, to indulge in sexual activities at the celebration of a friend’s birthday.
He was put on $65,000 bail until January 20.
