Prosecution witness at murder trial says…

‘Accused & I had a sexual relationship’ with now dead sixteen-year-old girl
PROSECUTION’s star-witness, Ken Isaacs called George Demonick, of West Ruimveldt Front Road, was testifying at the murder trial in which Paul Bagot called Paul Moore, is indicted with the murder of 16-year-old Abigale Gittens, when he blurted out:
“I know Abigale Gittens.  She was my girlfriend. We had a sexual relationship. She was also the girlfriend of the accused who also had a sexual relationship with her.”
And when Presiding Judge William Ramlal sought to find out how he had this knowledge of the accused sexual relationship with Abigale, the witness replied that he was “positive”.
Leading prosecutor Miss Rhondel Weaver who, in association with lawyer Miss Shivani Balcharan of the D.P.P. Chambers, has set out to prove that the accused Paul Bagot called Paul Moore had, on the 30th  September, 2004 in the county of Demerara,  murdered Abigale Gittens, a 16-year-old girl.
In his evidence in chief, the witness (Demonick) told the  Prosecutor that the girl used to visit his home.  Demonick said he knew her about 8 to 9 months prior to her death.
Witness testified that on the 29th of September, 2004 – at about  23:30 hrs in the night, friends were at his home when a man by the name of ‘King’ called him aside and told him something.
Demonick said that, as a consequence of what ‘King’ told him, he left and went to the Front Road, not far from a shop, where he saw a girl leaning on a fence with blood-soaked clothing.
Demonick said someone shone a torchlight on the person, whom he recognized to be Abigale.
She was wearing  a blue ‘hard  pants’ and  an orange coloured top,  which he thought to be the  very clothing she was wearing earlier that night when  she left his home at about 20:30 hrs (8:30 p.m.).
At this stage, witness repeated that Abigale was his girlfriend up to the time of her death.
He said two women on the West Front Road that night had put Abigale in a taxi which left with them for the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Dominick explained that the police took him to the station that night and a statement was taken from him.
Under cross-examination by defence counsel Mr.  Hukumchand, the witness said he did not tell anyone in the crowd that night that the girl (Abigale) was his girlfriend.
He also answered: “I agree that the girl had a sexual relationship with me and the accused at the same time.”
Witness also agreed that the girl was ‘horning him’ or giving him  ‘blow’.
But, Demonick disagreed   with counsel that the ‘horn’ or the ‘blow’ he was getting by the sexual relationship ‘his girl’ was allegedly having with the accused, had affected him.
He denied that he was unhappy with his girlfriend’s behaviour.
The other witness who testified on Tuesday was Mr. Orin Gittens, father of Abigale Gittens. Orin said his daughter attended St. Ann’s College.  He said, too, that he knew the accused had a relationship with his daughter, since the accused used to visit his home to enquire about Abigale.
Witness admitted under cross-examination that his daughter had, before she died, ‘ran away from home’ and that she was charged by the police and placed before the court.
Further hearing continues today.
