ANTIGUAN Gordon ‘Banks’ Derrick, amid stiff competition, prevailed over Trinidadian David Williams by 18 votes to 12 to retain the leadership of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) at yesterday’s elections held in the Miami Sheraton Airport Hotel.Also gaining re-election, yesterday, were first Vice President, Grenadian Cheney Joseph, second Vice President, Rignaal Francisca of Curacao and third Vice President, St Lucian Lyndon Cooper while Aruban, Richard Dijkhoff was elected for the first time to 4th Vice President.
The four Executive Committee members elected are Barbadian Randolph Harris, Bruce Blake of the Cayman Islands, Puerto Rican Eric Labrador and the lone female, Jeaninne Wong Loi Sing from Bonaire. Among the list of nine candidates who contested for the four positions was President of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), Wayne Forde.
The nine-member executive will govern the sport for a four year period.
