St Monica, Karawab get water ambulance

FOOD for the Poor (Guyana) Incorporated (FFP) in collaboration with Courts (Guyana) Incorporated last Wednesday donated a boat to residents of St Monica and Karawab in the Upper Pomeroon River, Region Two. The boat, named “ASHA,” will be used to transport ailing residents from the two communities to hospitals on the coastland much easier to Charity.
Speaking on behalf of the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), FFP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kent Vincent said that the water ambulance was a necessity for the two communities.
He implored residents of both villages to take good care of the asset and promised continued assistance to the community.
James Miguel, Toshoa of the Amerindian Community, lauded FFP and Courts for the initiative and said that the water ambulance will be of great assistance to ailing persons in the community.
He further stated that health workers in the past had experienced great difficulty in transporting patients, especially at nights, by whatever means available and quite often patients died before reaching their destination.
Clyde De Haas, Managing Director of Courts, said the company was pleased to collaborate with FFP and praised the NGO for their work in helping the poor across Guyana.
Residents of the area were gratuitous in their praise of FFP and Courts for the gift.
The donation is a part of FFP’s Silver Jubilee Anniversary Celebrations.
