The situation at Novar needs addressing

Dear Editor,
I AM the owner of two trucks doing transportation. I have to take the Novar school street to transport farmers to a rice mill at the end of the street. The road is in a terrible state; all over has potholes. Then there are some shops on both sides of the road, I can barely pass. There are hundreds of school- children flocking these roadside shops. Sometimes I have to have someone ask them to remove and allow me to pass. The situation is very dangerous. One of these days something serious will happen to some of the children. From the public road to Novar School they occupy one-third of the distance.
These people who sell there, only two people are from here, the rest come from Mahaica, De Hoop and as far as Mon Repos. They don’t pay taxes here. We the people who live here, it’s very unfair to us. Let them go and sell and litter where they belong. The part where they ply their trade the trenches cannot be cleaned. A hymac was doing some work and that part could not have been cleaned. The grass is thick in the trench. The children are suffering, the mosquitoes breed there.
My wife usually brings our grandchildren to the school and there is hardly any parking space in the morning. There are about 20 to 30 cars and buses bringing kids to the school. The village council is doing nothing to remove these people. On both sides of the street are high heaps of mud and grass left after the hymac has finished working. It is messy and muddy. I know the government is trying to clean up the place. I am wondering if this area is exempted from this exercise. I was coming from Rosignol and noticed men removing erected stalls and shops from the roadside. It seems as if these people are untouchable. Minister Ronald Bulkan should look into this mater as early as possible. These people can make movable things to sell; put on wheels and remove at the end the day and the people who don’t belong to this village should go back to their villages.
Regards
Resident
