FIFTY-ONE-year-old Collin Boston, a mechanic of 75 Wismar Housing Scheme, Linden, yesterday pleaded guilty to the charge detailing that between January 10 and 11 at Mackenzie Market, Republic Avenue, Linden, he broke and entered the shop of Dominic Blair and stole $150,000 in cash.The prosecution’s facts stated that Blair secured his shop at the market, leaving the money behind. On the following day, he went to his shop and discovered that the money was missing. Reviewing his surveillance footage, he identified the defendant using a piece of wire to get the money.
Police prosecutor Neville Jeffers indicated that the money was not recovered.
Boston, unrepresented by a lawyer, told the court that two days prior to stealing the money, he and another man worked with Blair and he did not pay them. He further stated that they decided to take the money, and he took the blame for it.
Boston was ordered by Magistrate Ann McLennon to pay a fine of $150,000 on or before February 5,failing which he will have to serve 12 months in prison.
