What about the complaints of the victims?

I HAVE read a rather interesting editorial in Kaieteur News, headlined “Trinidad should be a wake-up call”. This should have salutary effect on us all, and we must be objective in our assessment of things Guyanese, and the happenings in Guyana. Both the Kaieteur News and Stabroek News have been and are continuing to deal with the Sharma, Ramsaroop and now Kissoon matters as if the politicians and/or the government have initiated and are continuing their persecution. Letters are allowed to be published in the press seeking to make them martyrs.
However, they are not considering the complaints made by the victims. Freddie Kissoon, who has an unmarried daughter, is taking delight in making unsavoury comments about the 19-year-old girl who complained against Ramsaroop.
He wants to interview this child to find out what only God knows. But he does not seek to interview Ramsaroop or his son concerning the disgusting and heinous allegations against Peter Ramsaroop.
When Kissoon spews filth in the newspapers daily and destroys people’s reputation and character based on his imagination and nasty mind, without proof, what if a little filth is thrown back at him.

Look what he has been trying to do to Bisram, the pollster. When he cannot match his wits, learning and intelligence with Ravi Dev’s he resorts to vulgar abuse.
If anyone wants to commit a crime and not only get away with it but get full support from our free and ‘responsible’ press, let him go to the street corner and cuss down the government and President Jagdeo. When he then commits his crime all hell will break loose and our political commentators will find cause why he has been persecuted – blame the government, of course.
When attitudes like these are displayed and gross irresponsible journalism is the order of the day, who must be blamed when one section of the community decides to close ranks.
