ACTION in the Petra-organised GT Beer Futsal Competition will continue tonight with four fixtures at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) from 19:00hrs. In the opening match Queen Street Tiger Bay will have a chance to redeem themselves as they oppose Kitty Weavers then Bent Street will battle with West Back Road in the second fixture at 19:45hrs.
The third fixture at 21:00hrs will fit Sparta Boss against Globe Yard and the night wraps up with Agricola going head-to-head with Festival City from 21:45hrs.
On Friday night goals abounded as West Front Road Gold is Money defeated Broad Street 7-2, Festival City got past Queen Street Tiger Bay 7-5, Bent Street overwhelmed Beterverwagting 9-5 and Sophia outscored Showstoppers 11–7.
In the evening’s feature, West Front Road smashed Broad Street 7-2 as Randolph Wagner opened the scoring in the very first minute.
Broad Street then levelled the score four minutes later as Leon Richardson scored then West Front Road retook the lead in the seventh minute as Wagner sealed his double with a left-side shot into the roof of the net.
Hubert Pedro made it 3-1 in the ninth minute while Michael Pedro extended the scoreline. An own goal in the 11th minute made it 5-1.
Goals continued to rain in the second half as Michael Oie scored in the 19th minute before Wagner completed his hat-trick in the 22nd minute to make the score 7–1. Broad Street eventually managed a consolation goal two minutes later as Ryan Jones netted.
The second affair of the night saw Bent Street dismiss Beterverwagting (BV) by a 9-5 margin. Colin Nelson top-scored in the win with a hat-trick in the 13th, 25th and 26th minutes while Okeene Fraser supported with a double in the 13th and 14th minutes.
Completing the score line with solo efforts were Daniel Wilson, Steffon Ramsay, Sheldon Profitt and Frank Crandon in the 12th, 15th, 17th and 30th minutes respectively.
On the other side, Warren Gilkes recorded a double in the 20th and 24th minutes while Delroy Dean, Devon Griffith and Reon Hopkinson scored in the second, 27th and 28th minutes respectively.
In the curtain-raiser, Sophia crushed West Demerara Showstoppers 11-7. Hat-tricks from Dwayne Lowe in the fourth, sixth and 22nd minutes and Akeem Jaikissoon in the 16th, 27th and 30th minutes led the way for Sophia.
Assisting with a double was Shem Porter in the fifth and 18th minutes while Sheik Kamal, sibling Joshua Kamal and an own goal in the 11th, 17th and 21st minutes respectively completed the result.
For the losers, Simon Emmanuel recorded a helmet-trick in the 20th, 24th, 26th and 28th minutes while Anthony Sancho bagged a hat-trick in the 10th, 19th and 23rd minutes.
