‘Unless ExxonMobil building burns down they won’t care’

–Melly Mel urges destruction, national crisis over Mohamed’s remand

Melissa “Melly Mel” Atwell, Bradly Sampson, also known as “Doggie”, and Michael “Bigz Mike” Williams have called for violent resistance and threatened action against the Guyana Police Force, while urging Guyanese to take to the streets and target ExxonMobil’s local office following the remand of Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed to prison.

During a livestream, Atwell criticised what she described as the silence of the diplomatic corps in Guyana on the matter, and urged members of the public to make their voices heard.

“Nobody coming to save yall, yall best take the streets get yall voice heard whatever got to happen if it got to be a crisis, be a uproar. Whatever got to happen got to happen,” Atwell said.

Atwell also appeared to advocate violence and made threatening remarks directed at members of the Guyana Police Force, as she continued to urge resistance over Mohamed’s detention. Her comments included calls for an escalation of public action, warning that whatever was necessary to make authorities respond should be done.

“Unless ExxonMobil building burns down they won’t care.”

Atwell, who is wanted in Guyana in connection with several cybercrime offences and libellous cases involving defamation, made the remarks as the three discussed Mohamed’s continued detention.

The livestream followed Mohamed’s appearance alongside Police Constable Ryan Greene before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on Friday last.

Both men were remanded to prison until November 24 in connection with allegations surrounding the unauthorised transfer of police surveillance footage and an alleged $800,000 payment.

Their attorneys challenged the police prosecution’s case and argued for their release on bail.

The footage relates to the October 12 shooting incident outside the Kitty residence of Senior Superintendent Prem Narine, head of the Guyana Police Force’s Special Branch and a witness in Mohamed’s extradition proceedings.

Police allege that Greene downloaded footage from the surveillance system and supplied it to Mohamed in exchange for payment.
