The Guyana Fire Service is investigating the cause of an early morning fire that destroyed a building at Lot 36 Hadfield Street, Lodge, Georgetown.

According to the Fire Service, the alarm was received at 03:33 hrs, with firefighters arriving at the scene just four minutes later, at 03:37 hrs.

Upon arrival, the building was fully engulfed in flames, while a neighbouring building was under immediate threat.

Firefighters quickly launched suppression efforts and managed to extinguish the blaze, preventing the fire from spreading further. However, the neighbouring building sustained partial damage.

The Guyana Fire Service has since launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
