Minister Manickchand observes during visit, engagement with vendors
MINISTER of Local Government and Regional Development, Priya Manickchand, visited Stabroek Market, on Tuesday, where she engaged with vendors and observed firsthand the vibrant commercial activity within this historic space.

According to information from the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development’s Facebook page, many of the businesses operating in the market have been established for over 50 years, with ownership and traditions passed down from generation to generation.
The visit reflected the warm and festive atmosphere of the Christmas season, as the market continues to offer a wide range of goods and services, including clothing, restaurants, footwear, groceries, hardware, and jewellery, across both single-level stalls and two-storey establishments.
Stabroek Market, the ministry said, remains a vital hub of commerce and community and continues to play an important role in Guyana’s cultural and economic landscape.
