THE Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) has reported three successful operations over the past week, resulting in the seizure of cannabis, cocaine, and an unlicensed firearm.
On Monday, September 15, 2025, CANU officers conducted a search at a residence located at Lot 42 “F” Hadfield Street, Georgetown. This led to the discovery of 1.172 kilogrammes of cocaine.
Two men, 68-year-old Clarence Jones and Carlos Garraway, 52, were arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters along with the illegal substance. Investigations are ongoing.
Then, on Friday, September 12, 2025, CANU officers, acting on information received, conducted an operation at a residence in the Lamaha Squatting Area, Georgetown.
A search of the premises uncovered 4.078 kilogrammes of cannabis. Four suspects were arrested and taken to CANU Headquarters, along with the narcotics. Investigations are ongoing.
That same day, CANU ranks carried out an operation along Section “D” Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown. Officers intercepted a motor car and discovered one 9mm Beretta pistol with five
rounds of ammunition. The driver, identified as 22-year-old taxi driver Tyrese Blair of Lot 261 Section D, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown was arrested and taken to CANU Headquarters, along with the firearm and ammunition. He was later handed over to police ranks at the Turkeyen Police Station. Investigations into the matter are continuing.
