A 28-year-old construction worker of Coomacka Mines, Upper Demerara River, has been charged with the murder of US-based Guyanese businessman, 49-year-old Courtney Evans.
The accused, Joel Harding, was arrested on September 1, 2025, by police ranks from Mackenzie Police Station. He was formally charged on Monday, September 8, 2025, with the capital offence.
The charge stems from the killing of Evans, which occurred on August 31, 2025, at Coomacka Mines.
Harding appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on Monday before Magistrate Ruschell Liverpool. The murder charge was read to him, and he was not required to enter a plea. He was subsequently remanded to prison.
The case has been adjourned to October 20, 2025, for disclosure.
