–President Ali tells supporters, expresses confidence as process progresses
President Irfaan Ali expressed strong confidence in his party’s prospects at the polls today but urged supporters to cast their ballots to “seal the victory.”
Speaking moments after voting at the Leonora Technical Institute, the President described the 2025 campaign as positive, issue-driven, and anchored in the ruling party’s track record.
“It’s early in the day, but we did everything to plan a fantastic campaign. We ran a very positive campaign, one based on trust, commitment, and unity,” Ali told reporters outside his polling station.
He added, “Now the final part of this journey, the victory, is for all our supporters to come out and ensure they cast their vote. I continue to encourage everyone to come out in their numbers and seal this victory.
Ali said his party’s confidence stemmed from the reception on the campaign trail adding, “The numbers that speak for themselves.”
The PPP/C, which has been in office since 2020, campaigned heavily on its record of economic growth, job creation, and large-scale infrastructure development. Guyana’s booming oil economy has underpinned the government’s promises of continued prosperity.
Asked directly if he was confident of winning, Ali replied, “Very much so, very much so. Very confident about the victory.” Still, he stressed that enthusiasm must translate into voter turnout.
“Sealing the victory is important, and that requires all our supporters to come out and ensure that they seal the victory with their vote.” With voting under way across the country, Ali described Election Day as a “beautiful day” for democracy and appealed for calm. His comments echoed repeated calls by both major parties and international observers for a peaceful process.
