The woman who was allegedly mercilessly beaten by one of Azruddin Mohamed’s campaign mobiliser has detailed to the police how she was offered $500,000 by the US-sanctioned businessman to settle the matter and threated with a gun by one of his securities.

The woman at the centre of the controversy is Genista Fordyce, who was beaten on Tuesday by Bradley ‘Doggy’ Sampson at the Square of the Revolution, where she had assembled with hundreds of other persons to receive payment for their participation in Mohamed’s election campaign activities.

During the altercation, ‘Doggy’ drew his firearm, which was later discovered to be unlicensed, and pointed it in the direction of Fordyce, threatening to shoot her.

Reports subsequently surfaced about attempts by Mohamed to pay the woman to drop the matter.

In her statement to the police, Fordyce said she received a call on Facebook Messenger from ‘Doggy’ on Tuesday evening and was summoned to Mohamed’s residence in Green Field on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD), where she met the two men.

Sampson was seen hitting the woman several times until she fell to the ground; he then pulled a firearm from his waist and proceeded to continue hitting the woman.

She said during the meeting, she showed Mohamed the video of her being beaten by ‘Doggy’, which caused him to curse ‘Doggy’.

“He [Mohamed] looked at it [the video] and started to curse Doggy, telling him he is a ‘F%#&ing jacka**… don’t come back f$%#ing here until I call you,” the woman related.

The woman said she was then paid $50,000 for her participation in Mohamed’s Nomination Day activities on Monday, after which he [Mohamed] attempted to delete the video of the altercation from her phone.

“I did not permit Azruddin to delete the video from my phone. He [Azruddin] then left and later returned and demanded I take a photo with him to clear his party’s name,” she said.

In her statement, Fordyce indicated to the Police that she was then asked by Mohamed how much she was willing to settle the matter with ‘Doggy’, and that she was threatened with a gun by one of Mohamed’s security officers.

“He [Azruddin Mohamed] ask me how much money I want and I told him $500,000 and he reply to me saying, people told him I am a menace to society…” the woman said in her statement.

She went on to add that: “…the bearded security guard who was standing about five feet away from me told me ‘don’t feel I don’t know you living McDoom,’ he raised his jersey and showed me a black handgun that was tucked in his waist.”

Fordyce said she became fearful for her life because she did not know what their intentions were, and agreed to settle the matter.

“Azruddin then said he will give me the money in the morning (Wednesday, July 16,) but I have to go with Doggy at the police station and finish the matter first. Then I left and went home,” she stated.

Mohamed, who is sanctioned by the US government, today surrendered to the police for questioning for obstruction of justice. He reportedly turned himself in to the police in the company of his lawyer.

The billionaire was sanctioned last year by the US Treasury Department for money laundering, gold smuggling, and tax evasion.
