SEVERAL senior officials of Imam Bacchus and Sons have officially endorsed the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) and its presidential candidate, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, for a second term in office.

Director Secretary of the respected business located at Affiance, Region Two, Samad Baksh, recently revealed that he cut ties with the opposition after the Granger-led administration refused to concede electoral defeat. Since then, he has distanced himself from the APNU+AFC which he had previously represented as a regional councillor.
In explaining his endorsement, Baksh highlighted the significant growth of Imam Bacchus and Sons—a company with over 75 years of service in the region. What began as a small operation with just five employees has grown to employ more than 500 people today. He credited this success, in part, to the enabling environment fostered under the PPP/C government.

“In the last five years, our business has been able to thrive,” Baksh stated. “I admire the PPP/C government’s commitment to grassroots engagement and its strong international relations.”

He added that under President Ali’s leadership, Guyana has experienced visible and sustained growth, backed by energetic leadership and stable governance. “This country needs genuine leaders, not individuals selling dreams. If we allow people without vision to lead, we risk falling into recession and economic stagnation.”

Meanwhile, Aadil Baksh, the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and former President of the Essequibo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, echoed Samad’s endorsement. He praised the PPP/C administration for the consistent progress seen across all sectors. He specifically highlighted improvements in transportation, particularly the ferry service, which has enabled business expansion and better service delivery across Region Two.

“Thanks to the PPP government, we’ve expanded our product lines including meats, rice, noodles, and beef, while our Imam Bacchus Chowmein continues to do well internationally,” Aadil noted. “Opportunities have been created across every sector, giving businesses like ours the chance to grow.”

Another director who is responsible for the company’s education and outreach division, Imam Baksh shared that the company has also successfully entered the education sector, offering private preschool services.

He credited the PPP/C administration’s supportive education policies for enabling profitability and growth in this area, something he said was not possible under the coalition government.
Imam further explained that his endorsement stems from the improved national security under the PPP. “Crime has dropped, it’s safer to live and operate a business, and government ministers are more accessible and responsive. Under the Coalition, this level of engagement was rare,” he said.

He also expressed confidence in the PPP/C’s handling of the Guyana-Venezuela border controversy noting that he trusts the current government’s loyalty and resolve. “I don’t believe any other political party is as committed to protecting Guyana’s sovereignty as the PPP.”

Imam urged Guyanese citizens to make wise choices at the upcoming elections, stating:
“Come September 1st, vote for the People’s Progressive Party and re-elect President Irfaan Ali for a second term.”
