BASSETERRE, St Kitts, (CMC) – When USA-1 and defending champions Barbados meet on Tuesday in a decisive fifth round clash, it will most likely determine the champions of the 2025 Rising Stars Men’s Under-19 50-over Championships.
Both teams registered comfortable victories on Saturday to remain unbeaten after four rounds of action, while there were also wins for the Windward Islands and Trinidad and Tobago.
At St Paul’s Sports Complex: Barbados’ bowlers made light work of Jamaica’s batsmen on their way to a four-wicket win, their fourth on the trot.
Medium pacer Khomari Griffith bagged 4-14, as Jamaica were dismissed for just 124 in 29.3 overs.
Brian Barnes was the mainstay of the innings with a knock of 42 off 41 balls, but Jamaica spectacularly collapsed from 83 for two to lose their last eight wickets for a paltry 41 runs.
Xaundre Baptiste and R’Jai Gittens both ended with identical figures of 2-20.
Barbados’ batters weren’t their usual dominance, but they still strolled to 126 for six in 28.1 overs.

For Jamaica Kev’Aundre Virgo took 2-28 and Deshawn James 2-34.

At St Mary’s Park: Earsinho Fontaine cracked the second century of the tournament as the Windward Islands trounced winless Guyana by 79 runs.
Fontaine scored an even 100 of 118 balls as the Windward Islands posted 262 for eight from their 50 overs.
He received good support from captain Stephan Pascal, who made 41.
In the bowling department, Golcharran Chulai, Jonathan van Lange and Parmeshwar Ram all took two wickets for Guyana.
Guyana was never in the chase after losing four quick wickets and they were eventually dismissed for 183 in 49.4 overs.
Sachin Balgobin topscored with 48, and Riyad Latiff hit 32 batting at number nine, but they lost wickets at regular intervals to find themselves on the backfoot.
Kirt Murray (3-26), Kirsten Murray (3-33) and Isaiah Jones (3-48), were the main destroyers for the Windward Islands.
At Elquemedo Willett Park: In the match that produced the closest finish of the round, Trinidad and Tobago edged the Leeward Islands by nine runs.
T&T posted a competitive 241 for nine from their 50 overs due to solid contributions from their top order.

Matthew Miller took 3-52 and Tanez Francis 2-50 for the Leeward Islands.
The Leeward Islands fought back well after suffering a middle order collapse, but fell just short on 232 for nine from their 50 overs.
Matthew Miller struck a run-a-ball 52, Kunal Tilokani made 45 and Eirette Richards 38, but the Leeward Islands found themselves 93 for four at one stage.
Miller and Richards added 75 runs for the fifth wicket to give their side some hope but once Miller was dismissed to make it 168 for five, the run chase lost its momentum.
For T&T, Aadian Racha, Zachary Madray, Abdul-Raheem Toppin and Brendan Boodoo took two wickets each.
