GUYANA continues to make strides in developing its security and law enforcement, with the recent move being a courtesy call to the Minister of Legal Affairs and Attorney General, Anil Nandlall, by a delegation from the Regional Security System (RSS).
In a statement on Friday, Minister Nandlall shared that the meeting was highly productive and that they discussed developmental and collaborative steps to improve Guyana’s security. The diverse delegation included Ms. Rhea Reid-Bowen, Director of International Affairs and Strategic Services; Mr. Richmark Deane, Manager of the Digital Forensics Lab; Ms. Kisha Sutherland, Director of the Asset Recovery Unit; Ms. Amy Gasper Nogueras, Program Assistant with the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) Section; and Ms. Alana Bunbury-Walton, INL Program Specialist.

The RSS visited Guyana this week in a step toward developing regional security cooperation. Moreover, they also discussed a partnership that would see strengthened training opportunities with local law enforcement agencies and the United States. The U.S. Embassy and the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) funded the RSS visit under the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative.
The United States, RSS, and Guyana continue to strengthen regional ties and deepen training and operational partnerships. Additionally, the continued relationship aims to achieve future collaboration in order to better combat transnational crime, improve public safety, and develop more accountable institutions.
