THE East Bank Demerara Cricket Association’ (EBDCA) Ryan Dookie Memorial T20 Championship, continued on Sunday and Monday with four matches with the GCA pair of Shamar Apple and Tuen Hicks scoring pugnacious fifties for Ruimveldt Sports Club.
Silver Bullet Sports Club, Uprising SC and Laluni CC were the other teams that enjoyed emphatic wins.
The 14-year-old Apple who plays for Transport Sports Club in the GCA cricket zone, and Hicks who represents El Dorado Cricket Club in the city, led Ruimveldt SC to a convincing 161-run victory over Timheri Cricket Club on ‘Arrival Day’ in Guyana.
Hicks flayed the bowlers to all parts of ground in his unbeaten 81 while the left-handed Apple blasted a brutal 64 to spearhead Ruimveldt SC to 231-7.

Timheri lost wickets at rapid intervals before being bowled out for 70 with Rickey Sargeant (3-10) and Quincy Jones (3-14) conspiring to be the architects of destruction for Ruimveldt SC.
Patrick Alexander’s 5-3 ensured that Silver Bullet romped to a 9-wicket win against Patrewta Sawmill on Sunday at the Laluni Community Centre Ground.
Alexander befuddled the Patrewta Sawmill batters who collapsed was for 34 in 11 overs.
Ridge Rajaram clobbered a four and a couple of humongous sixes in entertaining 25 as Silver Bullet reached 37-1 in just 3.2 overs.
In the other game on Sunday, Uprising CC defeated Laluni CC by three wickets. Laluni made 149-9 in 20 overs.
Julian Mohabir scored a well calculated 41. He got good support from Malteenoes Batter Josiah Lim (29) and Wayne La Rose (28).
Tameshwarnauth Sankar (3-16) while Laurel Parks (2-19) were the main wicket-takers for Uprising who reached 150-7 in 19.2 overs.
Triston Bynoe (34) and Parks (30) batted sensible as Uprising reached 150-7 to give their team victory.
In the second match on the holiday Monday, Laluni rebounded from their loss on the previous day to beat the EBDCA U-23 X1 by five wickets.
The EBDCA U-23 were dismissed for 63 in 14.2 overs as fast bowler Sunil Sarjoo (5-3) sliced through the innings like a sharp knife cutting butter.
Laluni CC had a few early scares before reaching 64-5. Nolan Hodge struck four boundaries which included two sixes in a cameo 23 while Wayne La Rose made 15 to guide their team to victory.
