–to improve access, response time

A NEW emergency service vehicle was officially handed over to the Mabaruma municipality, significantly strengthening the region’s firefighting capabilities.
According to information on the Ministry of Housing and Water’s Facebook page, the vehicle, a pick-up truck equipped with essential firefighting tools, is a valuable addition to the Guyana Fire Service’s fleet in Region One, particularly for improving access and response times.
The unit was formally received by Mayor of Mabaruma, Trevi Leung, alongside members of the Guyana Fire Service.

The presentation was led by Minister of Housing and Water and Parliamentary Representative of Region One, Collin Croal and Regional Chairman, Brentnol Ashley, on Tuesday. Vice-Chairperson, Annansha Peters, and Regional Executive Officer, Sewchand also attended.

Minister Croal noted that the investment was part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen emergency response systems and enhance public safety in hinterland communities.

The vehicle is expected to improve the operational readiness of the local fire service, ensuring more effective responses to emergencies in Mabaruma and surrounding areas.
