West Indies limited overs Head Coach Darren Sammy says that his team continues to closely follow the rehabilitation of Guyana and West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph.
Sammy speaking for the first time this year with the media says they want to see the youngster play against Australia again.
“I had a conversation with Shamar on Friday evening, just checking up on his rehab, his journey back and also the head coach of Guyana franchise, I get weekly updates, he is one of the talent ID’s that cricket West Indies have put in place, I communicate directly with the work Shamar is doing,” Sammy was quoted as saying.

Sammy commended Guyana Harpy Eagles coach Ryan Hercules for the work done with the bowler’s rehabilitation and the flow of information for the regional coaching staff to track Joseph’s progress
“He [Hercules]records all the deliveries that Shamar bowls and the pace in which he bowls, the area on the pitch map that he lands the ball, so at one time bowling full pace, injury free, so we are motoring it. I get frequent updates because he is definitely one. We all know how exciting, that amazing test series in Australia, our next test series is against Australia, so we understand the importance of him in the lineup and we are doing everything to make sure that he is ready and back on the circuit for West Indies.”
Joseph has played 8 test matches and taken 29 wickets at an average of 26 but most notably guided West Indies to a memorable win against Australia last year after some impressive bowling down under.
The Windies are set to play limited over series against Ireland and England in away series before meeting Australia in three test matches and 5 T20’s at home.
They will play Pakistan at home in July and August.
