Guyana, Canada strengthen security collaboration in high-level meeting

MINISTER of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn, on Wednesday welcomed representatives from Canadian law enforcement during a courtesy visit to his Brickdam office.
The delegation included Mr. Hugo Boilard, Liaison Officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and Mr. Gerrard Arulanandan of the Toronto Police Service.

Also present at the meeting were Permanent Secretary, Mr. Andre Ally and Treaty Officer Ms. Ormella Gladstone. Discussions centred on strengthening co-operation between Guyana and Canadian law enforcement agencies, with a focus on enhancing security partnerships and crime prevention efforts.
The engagement underscored the commitment of both nations to deepening collaboration in law enforcement, intelligence sharing, and capacity-building initiatives. The visit also reflects ongoing efforts to foster international partnerships aimed at improving public safety and addressing emerging security challenges.
Minister Benn welcomed the opportunity to bolster ties with Canadian law enforcement and emphasized the importance of such alliances in advancing Guyana’s national security objectives.
