THE Ministry of Home Affairs, on Friday, hosted its first-ever Career Fair under the theme “Empowering the Future Generation.”
The event occurred at the ministry’s Brickdam parking lot and promised to be a landmark initiative aimed at guiding and inspiring young people in their career choices.
The fair brought together representatives from 11 distinguished public and private sector entities, including the Guyana Police Force Traffic Department, the Guyana Prison Service, and the Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School, among others.
Those organisations were on hand to provide attendees with a wealth of information about various career paths and the skills required to excel in different fields.

The career fair was particularly focused on school-aged children and recent graduates involved in work-study programmes. It aimed to offer them crucial guidance and insights into potential career trajectories, professional development, and the skills needed to succeed in today’s job market.
Attendees had the unique opportunity to explore a range of industries, interact directly with industry leaders, and receive advice on how to shape their future careers. The hands-on approach allowed young individuals to gain a better understanding of what various professions entail, helping them to make informed decisions about their future.
The event saw scores of persons visiting throughout the day, and all interested individuals took advantage of the valuable opportunity. Whether looking to solidify their career aspirations or simply explore different options, participants found the event informative and inspiring.
The Ministry of Home Affairs’ inaugural Career Fair represented a significant step in its ongoing efforts to empower and equip the next generation of professionals, ensuring a bright future for all.
