IN a heart-warming initiative aimed at supporting young learners across Guyana, the Guyana Chronicle recently concluded its third annual back-to-school promotion, leaving a trail of smiles and excitement among learners.
This remarkable campaign, known as the “Gadget Drive,” not only provided electronic devices to children but also endeavored to equip numerous learners, from nursery to secondary levels, with essential school supplies such as backpacks, stationery, and other educational materials each year.
To participate in this generous endeavour, learners had to seize the opportunity by filling out coupons published in the Guyana Chronicle’s daily and Sunday newspapers between July 1, 2023, and August 23, 2023.
The completed coupons, containing quiz questions and spaces for learners to jot down their answers, along with their names, addresses, and other relevant details, were then deposited in designated boxes provided in various regions across the country.
The culmination of this exciting campaign took place on August 30, 2023, when the lucky winners were drawn from among the numerous entries.
The sponsors of the prizes, including Starr Computers, K-tronics, S. Jagmohan Construction and General Supplies Inc, and Riaz Computer, played a pivotal role in making this initiative a resounding success.
On September 1, 2023, learners from all regions were delighted to receive their electronic gadgets, marking the fulfillment of a promise to enhance their learning experience. This year, in addition to gadgets, the Guyana Chronicle extended its generosity by distributing printers, cell phones, tablets, and, of course, backpacks.
The impact of this initiative was clearly visible in the faces of the young recipients, who now have access to valuable tools to aid their education and growth.
It is worth noting that, last year, more than 50 learners, from nursery to secondary school levels, received devices and school supplies through the Guyana Chronicle’s efforts.
As the 2023 back-to-school season unfolds, these benevolent gestures from the Guyana Chronicle have undoubtedly made a positive and lasting difference in the lives of many young Guyanese learners.
The company’s commitment to nurturing the academic aspirations of the nation’s youth serves as an inspiring example of corporate social responsibility.
