Guyanese businessman donates gear to aspiring young cricketer

PLEASED with the progress shown by 14-year-old Fayyaz Ali Hanif, Guyana-born businessman Iqbal Rahaman, who hails from Dundee, Mahaicony but lives in Toronto, Canada, recently donated a set of cricket gear to the youngster.

Hanif, who is following in the footsteps of his father, former Guyana National wicket-keeper, Azib Ali Hanif, was gifted a set of Gray Nicolls gear, valued over $2000 (Can), comprising of one bat, a pair of batting pads, two batting gloves, one helmet, one thigh pad, one forearm guard, one chest pad, one pair of wicket-keeping gloves, one pair of wicket-keeping pads, wicket-keeping inners, one pair of cricket shoes and one gear bag.

Fayyaz, who is a member of the Superstar Cricket Club, represented Ontario Under-14 team and has been performing creditably.

He has also been in the Cricket Ontario High Performance camp for the last nine years where his father is one of the coaches.
