Rice Producers Association condemns Mayor Narine utterance

Dear Editor,
THE Guyana Rice Producers Association (GRPA) joins in condemnation of the disgraceful behaviour and vile utterances of the Mayor of Georgetown, Pandit Ubraj Narine, last Monday evening.

Not only is the mayor condoning ugly and unlawful actions in the city, but he is doing so in a most inflammatory and sickening manner, trying to use racial and religious incitement to put Guyanese against one another.

This is totally unacceptable and must never be allowed.

While it appears that he has to put up a show to seek validation or acceptance from his APNU handlers so that he may stay in office, he must be told that this is a dangerous route he has chosen and that he must stop his nonsense forthwith.

We think he is not fit for the office either.

As one of the oldest statutory mass organisations, the Guyana Rice Producers Association (GRPA) has among its members’ thousands of Guyanese of all racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds and never; never has there been any problems amongst our members because of that diversity.

We take the opportunity to reaffirm our support for our President and his ‘One Guyana’ initiative on which he has tirelessly engaged all our communities and people.

Dharamkumar Seeraj
General Secretary
Guyana Rice Producers Association (GRPA)
