ENET – Guyana’s fastest internet provider, number one television provider and soon, the first 5G VoLTE cellular network in the country – has given its full support to Region Ten’s football team who are competing in the ongoing One Guyana President’s Cup.

A leader in Guyana’s telecommunications industry, ENet expressed in a recent statement, “success and sport are synonymous with Region Ten, and it was a welcome honour to be supportive of grassroots sports in the region on a national journey.”

The investment is not just for sport. The only locally-owned telecommunications provider launched its 4G, 5G and OnFiber internet services in Linden late last year.

Decked in the orange colour of ENet, Region Ten is one of the favourites to reach the final four, who then battle for a spot in the final set for January 1, 2023.

Player maker, Tyric McAlister, expressed, “it is an honour to be supported by ENet” and the aim is to play to the best of their abilities given the opportunities that await.

According to President Irfaan Ali, the football tournament is geared at creating a pathway to Guyana’s qualification for the expanded World Cup in 2026.

The Head of State announced that 75 of the best players from the competition will be selected and filtered into an academy. a squad of 25 has been selected to represent each administrative region.

These players will be subjected to constant training and fine-tuning of their skills, while being also able to earn through part-time jobs.

The lads from Upper Demerara/Berbice played their first match last night at the National Track and Field Facility, West Coast Demerara, against Region Five (Mahaica/Berbice).

Region One (Barima/Waini), Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara) and Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) are the other teams grouped with Region Ten.
