… Das 50, Islam 5-28 star for Tigers
By Clifton Ross at Providence
IT was another resounding win for Bangladesh yesterday after wrapping up the series 3-nil, thanks to Litton Das’ fifty, coupled with spinner Taijul Islam’s 5-for which shot the Windies down by 4 wickets, bringing the tour to an end.
Windies defeated the tourists in both the Test and T20 series but were completely outplayed in the ODIs, adding further confidence to the Tigers 50-overs unit.
Batting first, the home team in front of a decent crowd, who came out to support their side, were routed for another low score in the series, 178 all out in 48.4 overs.
Captain Nick Pooran led the charge with a tempered knock of 73 from 109 deliveries with four fours and a pair of huge sixes.
Keacy Carty (33), Romario Shepherd (19) and Rovman Powell (18) played supporting cast roles despite their team taking a beating from the Bangladeshi bowlers.

Left-arm spinner Islam displayed full wizardry with the ball, snapping up stingy figures of 5-28 from his quota of 10 overs.
Pacer Mustafizur Rahman (2-24) and spinner Nasum Ahmed (2-39) did an ideal job to keep wickets falling, while stemming the flow of runs in the process.
Bangladesh then for the third consecutive time made light work of an average total, ending on 179-6. Das finished the tour yet again amongst the runs, leading with an even 50 with 5 fours and a six.
Skipper Tamim Iqbal set the tone for the chase, cracking four boundaries in his 35. Additional support came from Mahmudullah (26), wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan (32*) and some useful contributions from Mossadek Hossain (14) and Mehidy Hasan (16*), who finished the game for his team.
Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie continued to show his class in 50-overs cricket, bagging 4-23 from his 10 overs to end as the West Indies most successful bowler of the match.
Earlier, Bangladesh rattled the Windies top-order with a flurry of blows, reducing them to 16-3 at one point after a phenomenal opening burst from their pacers.
Carty looked classy upon his entry to the ODI side, picking and choosing his strokes as he found the fence twice while hitting a six, all as part of his 67-run partnership with skipper Pooran before being removed by Nasum.
Pooran continued to build his innings, primarily with singles and twos as he eventually scrapped his way to a resurgent half-century.
The left-hander unloaded a few massive sixes and a four off Mehidy in the 40th over, as the Windies sought to attain a decent total.
The final 10 overs were geared towards reaching a defendable total with the skipper eyeing a big score but wickets continued to fall as Islam bagged a 5-for in the process, whilst keeping the Caribbean side well under 200 runs in their final game.
