Guyana gets approx. 50,000 COVID-19 vaccines from South Korea

GUYANA, on Friday, received 40,800 doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccines from the Government of the Republic of South Korea, a statement from the Ministry of Health said.
During the brief handing-over ceremony at the Ministry of Health’s Bond in Kingston, Georgetown, Health Minister, Dr Frank Anthony welcomed the donation.

“The Government of Guyana and people of Guyana would like to thank the Government and people of the Republic of Korea for this donation of COVID-19 vaccines to fight the COVID-19 pandemic”, the Minister said.
He further explained that the vaccines would be distributed across the 10 administrative regions and will be administered to anyone 18 years and older who requires their primary series of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Meanwhile, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of South Korea in Guyana, Ramesh Dookhoo said the valuable donation will aid in saving many lives while satisfying the need of the healthcare system in Guyana.
Also on site for the handing-over was Dr Ertenisa Hamilton, Director of Family and Primary Health Care Services; Dr Farrah December, Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) Support Officer; and Andrea Budburgh, Medex attached to the Ministry of Health.
