BAHA’IS from Georgetown, Linden, and East Coast Demerara, along with their friends, neighbours, and other well-wishers of humanity, will gather at the School of the Nations, North Cummingsburg, on the weekend of 11-12 June to consult on the theme, “Building Vibrant Communities”.
According to a release, the conference participants will have the opportunity to share their views on the characteristics of vibrant communities and the importance of both the spiritual and material wellbeing of communities. The gathering will explore ways to work constructively among diverse perspectives and viewpoints in the effort to build safe neighbourhoods and strong communities.
Participants will also learn about the vision of world peace and a unified humanity as set forth by Bahá’u’lláh, who Bahá’ís believe is the Manifestation of God for this age. Key elements of this vision as it has unfolded over the past 100 years will be shared, the release noted.
The conference programme includes plenary and small group discussions, as well as planned activities for children, junior youth and youth. There will be a strong focus on music and the arts throughout the conference, said the release from the Bahá’í community.
The event is one in a series of worldwide conferences scheduled by Bahá’ís to mark the launch of efforts to engage meaningfully with the wider community. The new plan challenges Bahá’ís to intensify efforts aimed at releasing the society-building power of their faith in the life of their communities.
