A PLAISANCE, East Coast Demerara resident, was, on Wednesday, sentenced to 10 months in prison for assaulting a police sergeant, who was attempting to arrest him for a crime.

Seon Prince appeared before Magistrate Rushelle Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court and admitted to assaulting Sergeant Maxwell, on Tuesday, May 31,2022, at Plaisance, while the officer was acting in the execution of his duties.

According to reports, Prince is a known character to the police. On the day in question, the police received a report of an alleged damage to property.

When Sergeant Maxwell, along with other ranks, arrived at the scene, they made contact with Prince.

Prince attacked the rank and dealt him several cuffs to his face which resulted in injuries. Prince was later arrested.
